The aim with this piece was to create an ultimately functional piece of furniture where the most importance was placed on functionality and ease of use as well as comfort, thus the piece is made in a seemly simple form and with all the main elements allowing for the intended use of the bed. As humans spend a third of their lives sleeping, having the bed follow the general designs and rules of comfortable beds was the main idea behind this design. Despite the simple and functional appearance, there are small design elements that allow for glimpses of pleasing design aesthetics choices without adding too much ornamentation. The connecting curves of the side panels as well as the use of contrastingly oriented wood grain help to add hints of high design into the overall piece.
